Inspired by a sensational batting of Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes, England defeated India by 6 wickets to level the series 1-1. England successfully chased down a target of 337 runs with 6 wickets and 39 balls to spare.
Chasing a momooth total to chase, England got off to yet another brilliant start with openers adding 110 runs for the opening partnership from 16.3 overs. Jason Roy was the first one to be dismissed who made 55 runs. Ben Stokes then joined Bairstow to put on a match winning 175 runs stand for the second wicket. Bairstow completed his 19th ODI ton as he scored 124 runs from 112 balls which included 11 fours and 7 sixes. Stokes was unlucky to be dismissed for 99 off just 52 balls. Stokes’s innings included 10 sixes and 4 fours.
Earlier, England once again won the toss and invited India to bat first. India finished strongly on 336/6 with KL Rahul scoring a century. Rahul scored 108 runs while Rishabh Pant made a 40 ball 77. Skipper Virat Kohli played well for his 66. Hardik Pandya provided the finish with his 16 ball 35.
India had won the first match by 66 runs to take a lead in the 3 match series. Now the decider match will be played on 28th March Sunday at Pune.
