India defeated England by 7 wickets in the 2nd match of five match T20 series to level the series 1-1. England were leading 1-0 with a 8 wicket win over the home side in the first match of the series.
Chasing a target of 165 runs to win, India lost opener KL Rahul for a duck. Skipper Virat Kohli along with debutant Ishan Kishan added 94 runs for the second wicket to bring India back in game. Kohli remained unbeaten on 73 runs off 49 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes. Ishan Kishan blasted a 32 ball 56 which included 5 fours and 4 sixes.
Earlier, England finished on 164/6 from their allotted quota of 20 overs with opener Jason Roy top scoring with 46 runs. Roy faced 35 deliveries and scored 4 fours and 2 sixes. Dawid Malan (24), Jonny Bairstow (20), Eoin Morgan (28) and Ben Stokes (24) got starts but couldn’t make their innings a significant one. Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur picked up 2 wickets each while Yuzvendra Chahal and Bhuvneshwar Kumar shared a wicket each for India.
