World Test Championship final will be held in Southampton says Ganguly

Earlier scheduled to be played at Lord’s in London, ICC World Test Championship final match between India and New Zealand will be played in Southampton as per BCCI President and former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly.

Ganguly, who is planning to travel to Ahmedabad for the T20I series between India and England has opened up about the speculations regarding a change of venues for the final of the inaugural edition of the ICC World Test Championship.

It (the WTC final) is in Southampton. It has been decided a long time ago. They have the hotel, which makes it easier for them to control (the bio-secure environment). That’s why when England started cricket after Covid times, a lot of Test matches were held in Southampton and Manchester because they have hotels alongside the ground.

India needed to win the recently concluded test series against England at least by a margin of 2-1 to inch ahead of Australia and they did it with a 3-1 verdict. The final match will be held from 18th June to 22th June.
