India edge Afghanistan in thrilling finish, Shami takes hattrick

India registered a close win against Afghanistan to continue their campaign in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Afghanistan fell short of India’s first innings total of 224/8 as they were bowled out for 213 runs.

Earlier, India won the toss and elected to bat first. India lost opener Rohit Sharma early for just 1 run. KL Rahul was caught by Hazratullah Zazai off Mohammad Nabi for 30 runs. Skipper Virat Kohli continued his good form with the bat as he made 63 ball 67 which included 5 fours. Vijay Shankar made 29, MS Dhoni made 28 while Kedar Jadhav played well for his 52.

Afghanistan in reply were all out for 213 runs as India won the game by 11 runs. Mohammad Shami picked up a hattrik in the last over of the innings and completed with the figures of 4-40.
